Oncology

Clinical oncology is a medical specialty dedicated to diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with cancer. Clinical oncologists are physicians specialized in the care of patients with cancer, with extensive training in oncology, including knowledge on hematology (study of blood diseases) and medical oncology (cancer treatments with medications).

The role of the clinical oncologist is fundamental in the multidisciplinary approach to cancer, the physician works in close collaboration with other health professionals, like cancer surgeons, radiotherapists, radiologists, pathologists, and nurses, providing a welcoming and comfortable care to patients with cancer.
